Temporary signs

I’ve enjoyed Jonny’s pictures of a coffee shop sign which changes daily.

If you were to see it only once it would have the potential to get you thinking, but the changeable nature of it adds more meaning to the sign. It’s changes speaks of newness, of life, of freshness.

Signs like these sit happily on the street as streets are also ever changing and evolving.

Signs like these are connected to street art – vunerable, changing, erased, thought provoking. They offer an alternative to many Galleries who are more static in nature.

On Easter Sunday I watched someone write on the pavement outside our church building.

Manchester Passion

Looking forward to watching this on Friday,
9pm BBC 3

The Manchester Passion will retell the last days of Jesus' life using popular music from the cream of Manchester bands, including M People, New Order, The Smiths, Oasis and James. The songs will be given a vibrant new twist and be performed by the characters in the story accompanied by a 16-piece orchestra. There'll also be a giant screen which will show scenes from around the city, including a procession of people bearing an eight-metre long Cross, making their way through the streets of Manchester to join the drama for its finale.
